SXSW 2018

I took a quick trip to SXSW to experience the event that I’ve longed to attend forever. To say the least, it was a fun day. If you like crowds and have the energy for it, I highly recommend you go visit.

Spartan Pizza
Honestly, we randomly walked into this place because we were hungry. Pizza is always a good idea, right? The restaurant is located in an up-and-coming neighborhood; I’m not sure what it’s called but there were several hipsters walking around. It’s a walk-up concept with a few indoor and outdoor tables. Nothing fancy, simply a chill place to grab a bite. They only had three options for pizza by the slice, so I got a pepperoni and some slice with pineapple on it. I don’t normally like sweet stuff in my food but I was feeling adventurous. Y’all both slices were amazing. I practically inhaled them so I can’t get into too many details. What I will say is that, the crust to topping ratio was on point, it wasn’t greasy and I didn’t feel heavy afterwards.

Fort Worth Now House
My home city, Fort Worth, put together an event at Fair Market to help promote the city. I’ve heard through the grapevine that FW will eventually be the new Austin. Who knows. It appears that FW is trying to attract young professionals and corporate organizations to move into the city. If you read that article I linked you’ll understand the details. I was pleasantly surprised by the event the city put together. They showcased everything I love about the city and everything everyone else will love. There was free  TX Whiskey tasting, music from local musicians, free Heim BBQ,panel discussions, free t-shirts, free haircuts, and more! The diversity of the event was my favorite, I hope local businesses follow the trend and keep the arts/culture diverse. Fort Worth is not just the city of cowboys.
I’ll do a tour guide on the city later.

6th Street Houses
After the Fort Worth house we headed to a few pop-up “houses” on 6th Street. We landed at the Pandora house and got free chargers because our phones were dying. The line to get wristbands for the free shows was insanely long so we left. We found live DJ’s playing outside at Empire. This was actually fun and reminded me of Spring Break, although it seemed like everyone had it together. Ghostface Killa performed a free show inside and free drinks were given away. Later, we went to a different house only to find out it was hosted by Camel. You know who I’m talking about. I don’t want to link them because ya know…

By the time we made it in and got free drink tickets, I was exhausted. I had been up since 5 a.m. and couldn’t hang any longer. There’s always next year.
